When we launched the new Toluna last October, we were faced with several problems related to our points for opinions policy. There were many attempts to cheat by copying and posting the same opinion on multiple topics, and a great deal of junk content. As a result, we were forced to moderate opinions before awarding the points; this put an end to the most of the bad content on the site, but also caused our members inconvenient delays in receiving their points and vouchers.
So we brainstormed, and decided it was time for a change; and thus was born a brand new social points system, which will reward members of the Toluna Community for the quality and popularity of the content they create, as measured by the other members of the community. The new system will reward members for the polls and opinion topics they create as well as the opinions they post, and will not affect points awarded for participation in surveys, sponsored polls and personal interest surveys.
